I've always wanted to do something different on New Year's Eve. Helping a friend move house had never occured to me!

Chad P has been a friend ever since school. I've known him for a very long time now and we've always helped each other out. He had made plans to move to Kinver to be closer to work and he asked me to help him move. He hired a van and we started moving on Friday 30th December 2005 and finished, very tired on Saturday.

I never expected anything in return for my help, but he and Jackie (his missus) paid for all my drinks on New Year's Eve! If either of you are reading this, then I'd like to take this opportunity to say thank you to both of you.

An empty house...

Chad and Jackie both work outside of Wolverhampton. Chad works in Stourport-on-Severn and Jackie Works in Worcester. Driving to work everyday was bound to get on their nerves so they decided to move in together to a village called Kinver set in idyllic settings in the countryside.

Chad P and I decided to move his stuff first and loaded the van to the brim.

As an experimental photographer, I asked chad to jump in the air and I took a picture.

Tell me if i'm wrong, but it looks like Chad is levitating or is as tall as the room...

This is Chad P again doing his jumping thing.

This is the kitchen. No fridge, no washing machine, a broken cooker and no drawers. Apart from the drawers, everything else was being delivered on Saturday and the cooker is going to be fixed soon.

This may or may not have influenced their choice, but there is a public house within farting distance of his house!

This pub was going to play a big roll within our New Year's Eve celebrations...

Some of Chad's stuff was moved and we headed off again in the van. Prior to leaving, we had stocked the van with all the usual junk on the dashboard: Sweets, Cakes, 2L of Pepsi, A copy of The Daily Star newspaper (it lack news, but has some great pictures of women's tits) and empty wrappers and general crap.

Jackie had a lot of stuff. A van full infact. She was also carrying a lot of boxes called 'breakables' - might need to drive carefully...

For those of you who have never moved house by yourself before, don't bother - call in the pros! For a start, it's hard work - thought I was going to have a heart attack at one stage. Most of the time it was raining and we had to walk uphill both ways: To get to the house, you have to go up some stairs, down a hill and then up again to the house. To get tothe van from the house, you have to go downhill, uphill and then down the stairs! To be fair though, I did need the exercise!

Here's the happy couple after moving Jackie's stuff.

It's a good job that there is a spare room upstairs! It didn't take long to fill it...

It's dark and we go to Jackie's Grandparents house in Walsall to pick up some more of her stuff an a bit of furniture.

Chad's photography skills are not inline with mine, but I do like his creative approach to in-van photography. He was actually attempting to get a picture of some christmas lights at a pub.

Day one complete...

We stopped in a Pub called the White Hart in Kinver for food. It was about 8pm and we were knackered! I craved a burger and got one! Gorgeous.

Day two...

I awoke to a variety of aching bones and muscles and left the house at about midday. We picked up some more stuff from chad's and finally moved everything a few hours later.

What's the relevance of this picture? None really. I was just interested to discover that between the two of them, they had managed to bring about 50 mugs into the new house. Infact, more mugs than food occupied the shelvesin the kitchen.

As a true photographer, I captured the two of them in a heated discussion about the amount of mugs and lack of shelf space. Some of the mugs, sadly, were lost and they seemed happier.

I hope Chad doesn't find out how many plates there are...

Job done.

We had moved everything that we had to in the van and we were ready to get ready for the New Years Eve celebrations. A quick photoshoot was in order...

If you've ever seen Peter Kay's 'Max & Paddy's Road to nowhere' then you cn see where we are coming from with this.

Chad P was Paddy...

...and I was Max.
That's the end folks. I drove off into the sunset to get changed for a New Year celebration and piss-up. Note the crap on the dashboard...
