Twin sisters. One birthday. Food. Kids. Adults. Friends. Mix it all together and what do you get? A party. Oh - and there was jelly and icecream as well. It was the birthday of Emma Kate Yeardley and Rebecca Claire Chandler. On this very day (18th March if you haven't read the title) in 1978 in Harrogate, Carla Ashworth was taken by surprise when not one, but two heads popped out. In order to celebrate this occasion, we held a trilogy of events. This is the first one...

Chandler Bing...

Ever since I found out that Rebecca's surname was Chandler, it was almost impossible not to shout 'Bing' at her every once in a while. It still makes me laugh, although it has probably worn thin a little now.

Rebecca was my official first girlfriend at school (altogether now...ahhhh). Anyway - that didn't last long so I chose her sister 15yrs later.

The Dad...

Emma and Rebecca have an older sister called Sarah Louise Owen. Three girls. That's enough to make any man tired, let alone the three grand daughters and the one grandson. I feel sorry for this man.

From L to R: Katie, Keziah, Emma, Danielle and Daddy David.

The Friend from Old Basing...

This is Hayley, Emma's mate. They met a long, long time ago in a land far, far away. In High Wycombe. They've been mates ever since and she drove all the way up the M40 to celebrate.

Bing...

She's gonna kill me when she reads this, but that's what she's there for - winding up. This is a picture of Bec giving her dad the v's. She got a telling off for this and was sent to her room immediately without any further ado.

The cutting of the cakes...

If you've ever met twins, you will find that they don't dress the same, don't eat the same things and don't smell the same. They even have separate birthday cakes.

They did, however, cut them at the same time.

Posing...

What's wrong with posing?

Auntie Kathlyn...

I think that's how you spell her name. Anyway - from what I understand, Auntie Kathlyn is Emma's mother's father's sister's next-door-neighbour's uncle's brother's cousin's friend - I don't know - there was too much food on the table and I was distracted by it when I was told.

Thoughtful Bec...

What is she thinking? Who knows. Maybe this:

"Is it possible to brush your teeth without wiggling your arse?"
"If quizzes are quizzical, what are tests?"
"Why does mineral water that has 'trickled through mountains for centuries' have a 'use by' date?"

Keziah...

May I introduce you to Keziah - Emma's daughter. Ain't she sweet. Ahhhh.

When she's not watching CBeebies or The Gruffalo, Keziah spends her time getting high on E-numbers that can be found in such products as Smarties (especially blue ones), cordial and Smarties.

Thomas...

Remember Sarah?, Emma and Bec's older sister? This is her son. I did strike up a conversation with Thomas about Eastern European politics but he didn't seem to have much of an opinion. I thought it was very rude of him not to answer me back in a formal way. If I can remember correctly, all he had to say was: "Bublah kupdfinkda gugglesnapskip" or something along those lines.

Caught out...

Being a bit of a photographer myself, it's very rare that I don't notice someone taking a picture of me. This however, was one of those occasions.

I wonder what I was thinking...

"What do people in China call their good plates?"

Pose #2...

Aha - can't catch me out twice in a row. Again, I wonder what I was thinking...

"If we aren't supposed to eat animals, then why are they made out of
meat?"

The pondering Thomas...

After much thought and deliberation, Thomas gave me the answers I was looking for regarding my queries with Eastern European politics. He then went on to say:

"Oh how embarrassing, I seem to have soiled my new bib. Mother darling, fetch me a clean one so I can soil that one as well."

Sarah and Dave...

My only memory of Sarah is from school. Our school backed onto her school and I was introduced to her through a spiky iron fence by Emma or Bec - can't remember. I think I fancied her at the time, but then again, I was seeing Bec so I remained faithful. Besides - she went to the Girl's High School and they were all smelly according to St. Peter's Collegiate School folklore. So there.

The Family Photo...

From L to R: Me, Keziah, Carla, Rebecca, Bradley (the dog), Daddy David, Emily, A friend of one of the girls who I can't remember, Emma, Sarah, Katie, Hayley, Dave, Thomas and Auntie Kathlyn.

So - what happened next? Well, go to Part Two of the trilogy to find out...

Take me to the trilogy part 2 please...
