It had been a long and exhausting week and on our last full day, we decided to go to the south coast of Wales and visited a place called Tenby. I've been to Tenby before but it was so long ago that I couldn't remember what the place looked like. We had left the others behind and it was just me, Emma and Keziah.

Back to the beach...

It was a hot day and almost felt like it could have been mid August. We hadn't made any plans to go to the beach so we hadn't packed any stuff. We ended up on the beach though because we had just booked a boat trip to Caldey Island and needed to wait for about an hour.

The fort...

Just incase you were wondering, this is not Caldey Island. I'm not sure what this island was called but it was home to a fortress of some description and legend has it if a girl swims under the bridge, she will turn into a mermaid and boys will turn into crabs. Nice.

Balamory...

Tenby reminded me of the kids program Balamory. Balamory is actually set in a place called Tobermory, for your information. Anyway, we were waiting here for the speedboat to arrive to take us on a sight-seeing tour around Caldey Island.

Seals...

The flyer for the boat trip advertised 'Guaranteed Seal sightings or a free boat trip if not' - I hoped we would see some seals - not for the sake of me getting any pictures, but for the sake of an upset Keziah and an hour's drive back to Cardigan with a crying accompaniment.

Speed Demon...

It's hard to take pictures when you're on a speed boat and not wering a seatbelt but I did my best, so here goes...

Thank Christ for that...

Look! A Seal! I thought I would have been more impressed but I clearly wasn't.

And another...

Ok, so I wasn't as excited to spot a seal as Keziah, but I was happy that she was content.

Birds...

I don't know what they were but they looked evil to me.

The captain...

The guy on the left was asleep and the guy driving looked like he had made this trip a thousand times already today. They can't complain though - there were about 25 seats on the boat and we were charged ten pound each. The trip lasted an hour and they walked away with 250 pound an hour - not bad for a driving job.

P-p-p-p-pick up a penguin...

They looked like penguins but they weren't.

An hour later...

We had managed to sit at the back of the boat which was sheltered from the sun and we were freezing. Everybody else was sat in direct sunlight and probably got a bit of a tan. We passed the fort and headed back o the port.

Hmmm...

Who brings a cat to the beach? And who the hell puts a cat on a lead? I thought I was mental.

Shire Horse?

After the boat trip we were in full adventure mode so we forked out for a trip on a horse and cart. The horse's name was Duke and we went round the block and held up the traffic.

After about 5hrs of sunshine, the clouds came in and it threw it down so we decided to head back to Cardigan, but not before I stopped to have a look at some of the lesser known villages in Wales such as...

Cold Blow...

Most of the places in Wales have a Welsh name. I don't know why, but this place was called Cold Blow. Very worthy of a photo.

What? It had to be done - I'm a computer geek aren't I?

Llandissilio...

How do you say it?

The castle...

I get excited about visiting castles - the history, the battles that took place etc. I know - sad but true. Anyway, it was about 5pm and we needed to head back, but not before I saw a castle. We spotted a brown tourist sign for a castle and decided to go and have a look. When we got there they were charging people to go in so we didn't bother. We could see it from the gate anyway so why pay?

St Dogmaels...

We returned back and our holiday had come to an end. I enjoyed the week away a lot and I will probably return there to visit again.

Well, until next time...
