I
was absolutely knackered from two days at the beach. My whole body ached
and it didn't help that we were staying in a bed that was more uncomfortable
than lying on a bed of nails in a bath of saltwater whilst someone constantly
kicked you. Anyway, I'm not one to complain so on the Monday, Emma and
I set out on our own for a little kid-free drive... |

Cwm-yr-Eglwys We headed south of Cardigan along the coast and decided on destination unknown. We had no plans for the day and just wanted to spend some time together alone. Whilst driving, I spotted a sign and made some random connection between the welsh word 'Eglwys' and the French word 'église' meaning church. I was intrigued so we drove down to have a look. I was pleasantly surprised to find a small village with a derelict church on the sea front. We decided to take the coastal path south towards Dinas Head. |

How far? We had walked quite a distance and I was still aching from the previous two days. We didn't know how far we had walked but were on a point called Dinas Head somewhere. |

Where? If you look at the top left hand point of the cliffs, that is not where we had walked from. |

Alan Titchmarsh... I'm definately getting old now. I realised this as soon as I started taking pictures of flowers instead of semi-clad women. |

Arrrrrrgggggggggggggggghhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!! We stopped to take note of the caution sign. |

Arrrrrrrrrrrrggggggghhhhh!!!! Part 2... Come on - I had to take another picture of this sign. It's not very often you see a sign with a picture of a man falling off a cliff. Maybe this area has a high suicide rate? If you did fall, you would more than likely slip off the edge feet first, not head first. Maybe the man in the picture was a trained Welsh olympic diver? |

The pointless lighthouse... We had stopped at a few places before our stop here, in Strumble Head. We had visited a Wool Mill because I was starving and purchased two sandwiches and two packets of crisps. We had also visited a random church somewhere along the way with a cafe type thing next door. Well, when I say cafe, it was somebody's house painted in bright colours off a beaten track. Anyway, the reason that this lighthouse was pointless was because we couldn't visit it... |

Why not? The Welsh sign was obvious: "We're
sorry that there is a signpost to this lighthouse and we can't let you
in to have a look around the island it is situated on. We're also sorry
that you had to walk half way down a mountain to get to this place from
the car park. You can, however, stand next to the locked gate and have
your photo taken if you should so please. Thank you for your time and
wasted efforts, the Welsh Assembly." |

The Ancient Burial Chamber... On our way home, we decided to go to a burial chamber after seeing one of those brown tourist signs saying 'Ancient Burial Chamber'. Apparently, it was over 5000 years old and was also used as a landmark for travellers and stuff. |

I see dead people... Well, I didn't actually. I didn't see any remains either apart from the stones. |

Another classic... When Emma spots all these photos, I may fear for my life. Another day drew to a close and we had both had fun. What would happen next on the holiday? Would I survive till the end? Would I get drunk and fall off a cliff? You'll see... |
