When I was a child and my parents decided we were going out, I would often ask "Where are we going?". In a quick response, my father (or mother, depending who was in a sarcastic mood that day) would respond with "There and back to see how far it is.".

Now call me a 'thick' child or whatever you will, but I always mistook this for an actual place called 'ver'. Obviously I figured out that he meant 'there' and the joke went stale after about 2 repeats (me and my sis heard it about 1,000,000 times I think).

Anyway, the Unplanned Journey Research Team have actually figured out where 'ver' is and have provided two responses should anybody give you the answer to the original question.

So in realistic terms, if you ask "where are we going?" and someone replies with "There and back to see how far it is" You can comeback with "There's not a lot of point, because I already know - it's..." and proceed to dish out the results.
