Most people in the world would scoff a tin of beans without giving it any consideration. Mouthful after mouthful would be devoured and nobody would even wonder "how many beans have I just eaten?"
Luckily for you, our staff have undergone hours of mind-numbing counting tests and have finally been able to give it's public an answer...

Every good research department needs one of these. Due to the nature of our research (and our lack of funding) we were using cheap baked beans (not the good ones with a ring-pull tin)

As we said - cheap, but nonetheless tasty (as we later found out).

Note the 'premium quality' in 'rich' tomato sauce - hmmmm.

Also note: 420g of the things (I think this includes the tin weight)

For our research, we used two average sized bowls - one to put them into, and one to count the beans into.
Our head researcher, Dr. Chad got straight to work on the task in hand. First thing to do was to open the container, trying not to spill any of it's expensive contents...

Mission completed!

Next phase - pour contents into container A - again, careful not to make any spillages

Verify that every single bean has departed from it's original container and all that remains is a small residue of 'rich' tomato sauce

Take your specially-designed transferring tool and commence counting...

One...................

How many beans do you reckon are here?

Our head of research could not believe there were twenty!!!

The Results...

After much adding up, our head researcher discovered that in this particular tin of quality baked beans, there were 557 of them.

What would he do with them now his research was complete?...

Cheese on Beans on Jacket Potato of course!
